About UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS):
GCNS is the national lead agency promoting corporate sustainability. As the Singapore chapter of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), GCNS works closely with companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and take action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through various platforms for multi-stakeholder engagement and collective action, GCNS advances the stewardship of sustainable business practices and Singapore’s national agenda of becoming a regional sustainable business hub. In addition, GCNS nurtures the next generation of responsible business leaders through its youth initiatives. GCNS is a stakeholder of the Global Reporting Initiative.
Position Summary
The UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) is seeking a Strategic Initiatives Intern to support the development of UN GCNS strategic initiatives programs and projects, including the planning and end-to-end execution of strategic events.
The successful candidate will join an active UN Global Compact network that promotes corporate sustainability and responsible business in Singapore and the ASEAN region.
Responsibilities
- Assist full-time staff with day-to-day operations and event planning.
- Assist with speaker outreach to collect bios, content for speaker sessions, etc.
- Assist with stakeholder & vendor outreach to collect quotations, images, testimonials, etc.
- Answer incoming calls and assist in answering inquiries about Summit and Apex Awards.
- Support the administration for events and carry out follow-up tasks.
- Assist with tasks in the areas of programme marketing, event management, sponsorship and logistics as needed.
- Assist with drafting surveys, collecting and analyzing responses.
- help to conduct simple desktop research to support programmes for future events.
- Other tasks as assigned
Job Requirements
- Relevant work experience with related to sustainability, development or the environment would be an advantage, but not required.
- Experience in projects and events would be advantageous.
- Highly organised with strong analytical and planning skills.
- Goal-oriented with a mature disposition to take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Strong communicator (written and verbal); comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across different sectors, regions and seniority levels.
- Possess a positive work ethic and determination in achieving targets within tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Accept occasional long and irregular hours
- Able to work within a small team dynamic
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint required. Knowledge of design software would be an advantage
